About the Position:
As Head Sommelier, you will be responsible for guiding guests through a wide range of wine experiences and ensuring that the wines complement our menus in the best possible way. You will be part of a team working together to offer exceptional food and wine experiences in our French pearl. With your expertise, you will guide guests in selecting wines, build and maintain the wine list, and contribute to enhancing the restaurant’s reputation as a destination for wine lovers.
Responsibilities:
- Present and recommend wines that harmonize with the menu and the guests' preferences.
- Build, develop, and maintain a varied and exciting wine list.
- Collaborate closely with the F&B Manager to ensure a perfect match between food and wine.
- Hold wine tastings for both staff and guests, and ensure team training.
- Oversee the wine inventory and manage orders according to the budget and restaurant standards.
- The position requires a strong presence in the restaurant and during service.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a sommelier or equivalent experience in the wine industry.
- Deep knowledge of wine, wine producers, and food and wine pairings. Knowledge of French wines is an advantage!
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey knowledge in an engaging way.
- Ability to provide top-tier service and build strong relationships with guests.
- Structured and goal-oriented, with strong teamwork skills.
- The working language is English, but Norwegian-speaking candidates will have an advantage.
